Egypt brooch

          Round brooch in 18 carat pink gold. Enameled portrait on copper representing the profile of an Egyptian goddess in a setting punctuated by leaves set with diamonds and fine pearls. This is probably the goddess Hera, one of Zeus' wives whose emblem was the peacock. Hera was celebrated throughout Greece as the goddess of marriage. An eminently faithful goddess, she was supposed to guarantee and protect fidelity between spouses.
